The Toutle Lake School District is seeking outstanding candidates for a CTE Business Education Instructor. Qualifications
* A valid Washington State Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Certificate with Business Education
Endorsement (V070000) required
* Knowledge of FBLA
* Industry experience in a business related position preferred
* Experience with diversity preferred
* Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in Career and Technical Education
* Demonstrated academic preparation and/or experience in project planning, project presentation or related field
* Demonstrated strong skills and background in instructional methods including cooperative learning, questioning strategies and concept development
* Demonstrated interest and ability to develop and adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to students' interests and learning styles
* Demonstrated ability to use a variety of assessment strategies, including preparing students for High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) and the Smarter Balanced Assessment
* Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters appropriately and ethically
* Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
* Demonstrated successful experience working with high school students and students with disabilities
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member with administration, staff, parents and students
* Demonstrated ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
* Demonstrated ability to establish individual and subgroup, whole class, and grade-level/content area student growth goals
* Demonstrated ability to use student growth or achievement data from multiple assessments to show clear evidence of growth for most students
* Demonstrated ability to use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning
Required Technology Experience
* Demonstrated proficiency with Smartboard technologies
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 2008
* Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CS4 to include: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash
* Demonstrated proficiency in iMovie
* Basic knowledge/experience with digital camera and video camera
* Familiarity with automated accounting
* Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows computers
* Familiarity with Certiport Microsoft Office Testing support
* Ability to save/share/manipulate information via network environment
Essential Functions
* Organize, teach and develop materials for program that meets the course goals and objectives, district approved business education student learning objectives, and state business education program standards
* Teach leadership and employability skills as part of the class
* Articulate programs with Lower Columbia College to maintain a strong Pathways program in Business and Marketing
* Provide an effective instructional environment
* Maintain appropriate and accurate records and assist in completing state reports
* Maintain financial records pertaining to the program
* Complete program planning and program evaluation in cooperation with state guidelines
* Attend and participate in staffing, department, district and employer meetings as required
* Meet with district and CTE administration on a regular basis to ensure successful program implementation
* Co-advise student leadership organizations with other CTE instructors
* Work toward implementation of programs that integrate career and technical and academic education
* Communicate and interpret school program to patrons
* Participate and work cooperatively on school projects
* Communicate students’ progress to students and parents through conferences or reports
* Teach approved curriculum
* Participate in IEP planning sessions as appropriate
* Provide for the supervision of students in the classroom and on the school premises as required
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
* Work to develop in students a sense of consideration for others and responsibility for contributing to the benefit of the school
* Participate in professional growth opportunities
* Attend Program Advisories for Business and Marketing
* Assist with co-curricular activities as necessary
* Use multiple communication systems, such as electronic mail, computers, document readers, and smartboards
* Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policies
Other Functions
* Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned.
