CONSTITUTION  

 ARTICLE  I – Name and Affiliation  

The name of this organization shall be the Washington State Business Education Association, hereafter referred to as WSBEA. It is an affiliate of the National Business Education Association (NBEA) and the Western Business Information Technology Education Association (WBITE).

 ARTICLE  II – Purpose

Promote business and education and through membership growth and retention of members in a professional organization.  

Promote business and education through communications with educators, legislators, organizations in the general public.  

Promote and provide curriculum development and professional growth through in-service opportunities for business educators.  

Promote and support the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) as the state student leadership organizations.  

Promote and exercise all powers, privileges and rights as provided by the laws of the state of Washington and all powers and privileges and rights conducive to carrying out the purpose of the professional organization.  

ARTICLE  III – Membership  

Section  1

All people interested in business and education in the state of Washington is eligible for membership.  
 

Section  2

All WSBEA members will be affiliated with a division within  WSBEA—northwest, southwest, north central, south central, northeast and southeast division membership will be determined by member choice. 

 ARTICLE  IV – Organization  

Section 1

There shall be an executive board, which shall be the governing body of WSBEA.  
 

Section 2

The executive board shall be composed of the officers of WSBEA, the immediate past president, the representatives of the WSBEA divisions and the other members listed in section 5.  All board members shall be members of WSBEA, NBEA, WBITE and WA-ACTE.  
 

Section 3

The officers of WSBEA shall be: President, President-elect, Treasurer, Secretary and Past-President.  
 

Section 4

Each division (see section 2) shall be entitled to two (2) representatives on the Executive Board.  The representatives must be affiliated with the division that they will represent that has current membership in WSBEA, NBEA, WBITE and WA-ACTE.  
 

Section 5

Additional voting members of the WSBEA executive board shall be:

  • Membership chair

  • THE EDUCATOR Editor

  • Representative to the WBITE executive board ( when applicable )

  • Representative to the (NBEA) executive board ( when applicable )

  • WA-ACTE Representative

  • WSBEA In-Service coordinator

The ex officio members (nonvoting) to the WSBEA Executive Board shall be:  

  • Legislative chair

  •  WSBEA Scholarship / awards chair

  •  Youth Liaison – FBLA

  •  Youth Liaison – PBL

  •  State Director / Program Specialist for Business Education, OSPI

  •  Webmaster

 

Section 6

Special committee and committee chair(s) may be designated by the President.  
 

Section 7

The fiscal year of WSBEA shell extended from July 1 through June 30.   

 ARTICLE  V – Meetings  

Section 1

One general meeting of WSBEA shall be held annually.  
 

Section 2

The Executive Board shall set the time and place of the annual WSBEA meeting.
 

Section 3

The Executive Board shall hold meetings as called by the President.  
 

Section 4

Additional division meetings may be held as needed.  These meetings will be called by the division representatives.   

 ARTICLE  VI – Dissolution

If WSBEA ceases operating as a functioning association as determined by the Executive Board, all assets shall be donated to the Washington State Future Business Leaders of America – an existing non-profit educational organization.
